Oblate Youth Australia frequently holds events for the local and national communities to come together to share in the Charism of St Eugene de Mazenod and grow in faith.
Shared experience is a critical component of what OYA is about and one of our seven creedal statements. Which you can view here.
Youth ministry is often simply understood as youth groups meeting weekly or bimonthly. Regular youth meetings should be seen as a part of a comprehensive approach to youth ministry which includes gatherings, special experiences and/or youth masses.
Offering different opportunities for young people to participate, where they feel comfortable, is essential to an integrated vision youth ministry.
The National Oblate Youth Encounter is an event that brings together young people from around Australia who wish to share their Catholic faith in tandem with the Charism of St Eugene De Mazenod. NOYE will be a great chance for new friendships to be formed and for old friends to catch up. It is a great opportunity to grow in faith and reflect, as well as share plenty of fun with other young people. NOYE provides a balance of prayer, workshops, open-forums, liturgy, games and free time to enjoy the recreational activities on offer at the campsite.
Re-Encounter provides an opportunity for our community to once again come together to grow and form in our faith, and to strengthen ties between the local groups.
OYA in the past has attended other national and international events such as World Youth Day, Australian Catholic Youth Festival, Australian Catholic Youth Ministry Conference etc. We hope to continue to attend these events as a community in the future.
