- Morning Mass
- Morning Prayer
- Community Time
- Animation Skits
Hi to everyone following our NOYE’09 journey online!
Day Two saw happy campers arise bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to a beautiful sunny day. After some attended morning mass, we gathered for breakfast then headed to morning prayer. The animation team led the prayer with a humorous skit about Tending to the Harvest, the main focus of the theme for the day. Using the example of producing quality wine, Luke “Ferg” Ferguson and Lauren Freeth demonstrated the importance of using good soil in order to reap a fine harvest.
Morning and afternoon workshops exploring the themes Eucharist, Leadership, Scripture and Charism were held on a rotational basis, allowing smaller groups to engage with these elements of the Creed. The workshops incorporated discussion groups, song, visual presentations and creative activities, giving participants the opportunity to learn and get to know each other more deeply through the sharing of their thoughts and experiences.
Community time saw participants mingle, spend time together and enjoy activities such as swimming in the river (brrrr), playing volleyball, soccer, cricket, cards or just relaxing in the sunshine.
The afternoon animation session was a comedic and powerful portrayal of the “seven daily sins”. It was a thought-provoking precursor for Reconciliation in the evening. Those involved in the morning’s Eucharist workshop helped to prepare elements of the Reconciliation liturgy, including the night’s environment, prayers and song. Nine Oblates, some from interstate and overseas made themselves available for the sacrament of Reconciliation. The liturgy, led by Fr Gerry Conlan OMI, incorporated a Gospel reading and reflections by several Oblates and camp participants about their experience of the sacrament. A quiet, reflective atmosphere, accompanied by soothing music encouraged many participants to take the opportunity to see one of the Oblates and unwind after an eventful day.
Thank you for your prayers and messages of support. We will keep you posted on the adventures still to come. Don’t forget to check out the photos below of Day 2.
