CAMP UPDATE
Day 4: Thursday 13th December 2001
After a late night and a lot of noise, everyone struggled to make it to the common room on time. Some missed out on breakfast and arrived in boxers without shaving! The theme for today was “Gods presence calling us to action”. After an introduction from Daniel, Loretta and Lisa spoke to us about their involvement in Rosie’s and St. Vincent de Paul. The personalities of the people that they help were described as both funny and heart breaking. We then broke up into groups and discussed how we can be active Catholics answering God’s call through the Holy Spirit. Afterwards we feasted on the long awaited and long anticipated Roast, and it was worth it! Then we continued on our daily pilgrimage to the beach.
After sandy showers, together we came up with our statement of Faith, which we plan on using as a way to let all our parishes and supporters know what we, the youth, have committed ourselves to. All our fair correspondents can find this on the web site.
One unlucky camper had the miss fortune of the wrath of Rambo’s years of bare hand combat training. Amusement for all!!! Embarrassment for our poor camper. Our last night together united us spiritually and in a kickin’ way. It brought together all the symbols of our week. The gifts of bread and wine were passed around the group as a sign of our solidarity and community. We shared a touching communion with many God moments, especially the last powerful song, a theme song for this fabulous week, “God is Great”. Sorry the party is jivin’ downstairs so we gotta cut this final update short!
We’ve had a fantastic, memorable, invigorating, superb, touching, life changing week!! Thanx all for your prayers and support! You rock!
